To be specific, the Windows Timeline tracks the stuff you do on your devices and then organize them by adding them into a list within Task View. You can resume any activities from the local computer and remote computer & devices (Android or iOS phones), as long as they are connected to the current computer through the same Microsoft account.

Windows 10 Timeline Settings

In the Windows 10 April 2018 Update and a newer version, the Timeline feature is enabled by default. If you don’t need this new feature, you can disable it manually (the instructions will be given later). Firstly, I’d like to show users who are interested in the feature how to access it.

Navigate Timeline on Windows 10

There are mainly two different ways to access the Timeline experience in Windows 10.

• Open Windows 10 Timeline via taskbar: you should firstly find Task View icon in taskbar (which is generally on the right side of Cortana box). If you can’t see this icon, you should right click on the taskbar and choose Show Task View button.
• Open Windows 10 Timeline via shortcut: there’s an easier and more convenient way to access Timeline – turn to the Windows 10 Timeline keyboard shortcut, pressing Win + Tab simultaneously.

How to access an activity fast?

• There’s an annotated scrollbar on the right side, which allows you to scroll through all the items easily.

Windows 10 Timeline Disable

If you don’t find Windows 10 Timeline useful, you should follow the steps given below to disable it completely on Windows 10.

1. Click on the Win button.
2. Scroll down to find Settings and click on it.
3. Locate and select Privacy (Location, camera).
4. Click on Activity history from the left-side pane.
5. Uncheck Let Windows collect my activities from this PC and Let Windows sync my activities from this PC to the cloud options from the right side.
6. Turn off the toggle switch under the Show activities from accounts area.
