- Internet connection and Microsoft account:
*Windows 11 Home edition: needs internet connectivity and a Microsoft account to complete the device setup on a new device.
*Switching a device out of Windows 11 Home in S mode also requires internet connectivity.
*For all Windows 11 editions, internet access is required to perform updates and to download and use some features. A Microsoft account is also required for some features.
However, Microsoft makes some changes to Windows 11 22H2 setup. Users need to have a Microsoft account while installing Windows 11 22H2 Home or Pro. That is, if you want to install Windows 11 22H2 Pro on a new device, you also need to have a Microsoft account. Previously, this requirement is only required for Windows 11 Home Edition.
