What Is SQL Server Reporting Services?

SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a server-based report generating software system developed by Microsoft. It’s part of the suite of Microsoft SQL Server services that contain SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

How to Install SQL Server Reporting Services?

After downloading SSRS, you can install it on your machine following the below steps.

1. Find and double-click to open SQLServerReportingService.exe.

2. In the pop-up window, click the Install Reporting Services to continue.

3. Choose an edition to install.

4. Read and accept the license terms.

5. Select Install Reporting Services only.

6. Specify a location to install SQL server reporting services and click the Install button.

7. You can choose to Configure report server immediately or just Close the window.

8. If you choose to manually configure the report server and customize settings, new windows will pop up like these. Just specify the server name and report server instance and Connect it.

9. Then, you will get into the main interface of Report Server Configuration Manager. There, you can personalize service account, web service URL, SQL Server Reporting Services database, web portal URL, email settings, execution account, encryption keys, subscription settings, scale-out deployment, as well as Power BI Service (cloud).
