Office LTSC 2021 vs Office 2021
The main difference between Microsoft Office 2021 and LTSC 2021 is their target audience and the features they offer.
Office 2021 is primarily used by individual customers and small businesses. Office 2021 LTCS is primarily intended for government and commercial use.
The biggest difference between them is Visual Refresh. This feature includes a new Office theme and Quick Access Toolbar that match your Windows theme. This is only available in Office 2021.
Also, the ability to co-author documents is not included in Office LTSC 2021. This means you also can’t see who is working on the same document as you.
Office LTSC 2021 is separate from Office offered through Microsoft 365 plans. For example, if you’ve deployed Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise to users in your organization, you don’t need Office LTSC 2021. Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise already has all the features included in Office LTSC 2021.
How to Download and Install Office LTSC 2021
For Windows, Office LTSC 2021 is installed using Click-to-Run installation technology. Microsoft does not provide an installer download; instead, computer administrators need to use the Office Deployment Tool (ODT) to install Office LTSC 2021. Here is how to do that:
Tip: Before installing Office LTSC 2021, you need to uninstall the existing versions of Office.
Step 1: Go to Microsoft’s official website to download Office Deployment Tool.
Step 2: Run the Office Deployment Tool exe file to install it. Then, lunch it and choose a folder to store the files.
Step 3: Then, you can see these files on the location.
Step 4: Now, you need to create your configuration.xml file. Right-click the Configuration-Office2021Enterprise file to choose Open with Notepad.
Step 5: Type cmd in the Search box and choose Run as administrator. Execute the following command:
setup.exe /configure \configuration-Office2021Enterprise.xml
Step 6: Next, the installation progress window appears. You just need to follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation.
